Report Abuse and NCII
How to report non-consensual intimate imagery, AI abuse, suspected minor content, takedowns and safety emergencies.
If you are a victim of non-consensual intimate imagery
Do not panic, and know that support exists. The steps below help you document the abuse, report it to authorities and platforms, and start removal.
Preserve evidence
Before acting, collect and secure:
- Full URLs of where the content appears.
- Screenshots or archived copies (use archive.org if the content is public).
- Dates and times the content appeared.
- Account names and profile information of the person who posted it.
- Any messages, emails, or communications related to the abuse (threats, demands for money, etc.).
- Your own identifying information (email, phone, name) associated with the abuse.
Store this documentation securely, separate from public view. Do not reshare the content beyond official reporting channels; each share spreads the harm.
Report to the platform (first)
If the content is on a social media site, forum, cloud storage, or content-sharing platform:
- Use that platform's "report abuse" or "report NCII" button (most major platforms have explicit NCII reporting).
- Clearly state that the content is intimate imagery shared without your consent.
- Include the URLs and any evidence you collected.
- Request removal within 48 hours (many platforms have legal obligations to respond quickly).
Major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, OnlyFans, Reddit, PornHub) have dedicated teams for NCII. Reporting through the platform first creates an official record.
Free federal and specialized reporting resources
For adult non-consensual intimate imagery
StopNCII.org provides free, confidential service for victims of non-consensual intimate image abuse. Uses digital hashing to submit image fingerprints to participating platforms. Over 90% success rate for removal; available 24/7 at no cost.
For content involving minors
NCMEC CyberTipline is the official US federal mechanism for child sexual exploitation reports. Accepts reports of CSEM, non-consensual intimate images of minors, and deepfakes. Phone: 1-800-843-5678 for immediate support.
Take It Down (NCMEC) allows minors under 18 to anonymously submit image hashes for confidential removal from major platforms without legal involvement.
Law enforcement
Contact police if the situation involves threats, extortion, minors, doxxing, or criminal activity. The TAKE IT DOWN Act criminalizes creating and publishing non-consensual intimate imagery. The FBI accepts reports at tips.fbi.gov.
